Patt "BUFF" Mendes - America's Strongest Teenager

At age 20, Pat “Buff” Mendes has already set the bar for Olympic Weightlifting. Being only the 3rd American in history to Snatch 400 lbs as well as Clean & Jerk 500 lbs. While both of the other lifters were late in their career, he is merely beginning! He proves himself as one of the most promising names to watch - a star on the rise. A phenomenal athlete in high school, Pat excelled primarily in football. However, at age 18, he began to notice his talent in weightlifting exceeded his football prowess. After graduation, unlike most athletes, he chose Weightlifting over football. Since then, Pat has been making huge strides and excelling in his new sport; always meeting the high expectations he places on himself.

Some of his accomplishments to date:

  • Only American to snatch 200 kilos
  • Won the title of Best Lifter title at the Arnold Classic Weightlifting Championship in 2009.
  • Exceeded all the Jr National Weightlifting Records by over 15%
  • Planet Muscle Magazine awarded Pat the title of “America’s Strongest Teenager

Next on Pat’s list is shattering all the Junior World Records this October at the Crillio Cup in Puerto Rico.

With such major milestones already accomplished as a teenager, Pat only has even greater goals in sight. He is currently training for the upcoming Olympic Games in London 2012. His dream is to become the first ever 3-time Olympic Champion from the USA as well as setting many World Records along the way. Neither an Olympic title or World record haven't been held by an American in almost 50 years.

With Pat’s skill, determination, and unrivaled focus we will certainly be hearing his name mentioned among the greatest the sport has ever seen!
